Re: Opera Portal

RIP Opera Portal. It has been replaced with Discover or something like that on the newest (see: worst) version of Opera and it's on the newest (see: worst) version of Opera Mobile for Android.

Re: Opera Portal

Is Opera like Yahoo!, they keep trying to make themselves more like Google and only end up becoming worse (as one should have expected)?

Re: Opera Portal

Lately, yes. After 12.16, everything went downhill. They used to have a community (forums and a blogthing), an email service, a news portal, and now that's all gone. And since their move to webkit from presto, most of the features I loved about Opera are gone, too. Luckily for me, they haven't upgraded their linux package for Opera past 12.16, so I still have the best version.

Now that's what I call optimization.

This is what I dislike about the popular sites these days. They try so hard to make themselves convenient and user-friendly, to the point where it's inconvenient and sometimes just plain annoying.

Yeah, I still don't get how they let that slip by.

I don't get how someone would think of that. who would think of requesting a string with an invalid number of characters?

Re: Opera Portal

It's easy to think of, I think. With PSP exploits, feeding games a too-long amount of information can be useful if it's not protected against it. Any aspect of the game that handles user input needs to be protected against it. But I would think that in a system designed to be secure, they wouldn't have let something so seemingly basic slip by.
