I silently stand alone...staring...waiting...

On the day of the outbreak, I had just turned 16. It was unfortunate and devastating but gave me a much greater chance of survival. I had died due to the disease but was resurrected within what was apparently a 24 hour period. After awakening, I found the horrific remnants of that room with none of the people I knew there. I discovered the limp body of some child nearby, upon closer inspection I found that it had been my younger brother, only barely recognizable by the quarter of his face remaining, brain and guts as well as some limbs missing. I felt deep remorse yet some sort of other feeling included, one of complete hatred towards this thing formerly loved. Something just...took over, I lunged at the body, devouring all that was still fresh on him. Afterwards I was left completely conflicted, but enlightened, all my senses vibrating and jittery with great clarity to all around me. I noticed some more of the dead as well as the adults some of which were walking dead and others that just laid there, including my mother and father. I saw vivid shades marvelous red painting the walls, the screams of adolescent neighbors as they lost their souls to some horrible beast. In all the confusion, I just had to leave the area. I ran away and found that it had been pouring dreadfully outside. I tripped in a puddle which reflected some monster behind me. I quickened my pace and slowed down after some blocks, in front of a convenience store. I was about to walk through when I noticed that same monster, but nothing was behind me. I could not accept what I was seeing, that creature that had no familiarity, was now the only family I had. I had to accept what I was now, no matter how evil it was, or at least previously seemed to be, it was all that was left, and is now the only right...I am one of the Zed.

(Summary: Everyone over the age of 16 is suddenly turning slowly ugly and beginning to eat anything still living, that is, if they live long enough to be turned into zombies. Most teens under 16 have been banded together.)

(I read all three summaries of the books out so far on wikipedia lol, zombies are "sickos" and kids as well will kill each other due to madness and vendettas)

I lie in wait near the surface yet still remaining in the darker waters. I wait to see how strong their numbers are to judge the effectiveness of an ambush.
