You start in a cave, with a puddle of water underneath you and a save spot off to the side. There's a door on a ledge above you. You know nothing about where you are, what's going on, or how you got here. Gradually through the game you get bits and pieces of the story. This is the BEST GAME I EVER PLAYED. Has great replay value, the story is amazing, especially the way it's told, bit by bit. The weapons system is unique and every choice you make affects the game. If you trade off your polar star for a machine gun, you can fly early in the game, but Curly Brace dies saving your life, and you can't get the snake or spur. You get the snake, you can't get the spur or the machine gun. If you get the spur, no machine gun or snake. If you get the jetpack early in the game, you get a crappier ending, but the game is easier. You wait for the jetpack, and you can get the best/hardest ending. I've never gotten the best ending, yet. There are 3-5 different endings, I think, and the happier the ending, the harder you have to make it for yourself.

Finally got around to installing it, and I love it. I'm not even that far into the game, but once I barely even started I knew it would be the kind of game that I'd enjoy.

And the best part is, I have no lag at all with the game, which is pretty amazing considering how crappy my computer is

is there an online version? My dad's a little wary of downloaded things ever since his email got hacked. 0.o I really don't know why.

It's so epic, it runs on my PSP. Last night I went insane on cave story and went and found a lot of mods of cave story. Sequels, prequels, and whatnot. A lot of them have been ported to PSP. I downloaded 3 of them, for a total of 4 cave story related objects on my PSP.

@Coolio, there was a port to HTML5 that worked, but it was only a piece of the game, to show that it could be done. It was stopped because Pixel did not approve. It's totally safe, Coolio. This thing has been ported to PSP, Wii, DS, DSi, 3DS, XBox, Linux, Mac, and even a Texas Instruments graphing calculator. You don't get called "The Greatest Game Ever Created" if your game has viruses. If it did, it would never even have been translated to english from the original japanese. Viruses slow down computers. But my craptop ran it, and I never saw any lag while playing. And the craptop lagged when using MSPaint.

Of course I beat Monster X on my third try, but now I have no clue on what to do next. Any help?

Where are you now? If you're still on the ledge, you have two choices. Go see who fell down, or forget them and jump across instead. It's kind of a hard jump, so save before you attempt. If you fall, there's no getting back up without talking to the person who fell. Whichever choice you make affects whether 2 people could live or die, and affects the ending, so choose wisely.

I chose to go down and see whoever fell and got the Booster Pack.

I'm guessing that makes the ending a bit sadder considering I got the Booster Pack

But now I don't know what to do :c

I've been in there plenty of times, nobody is ever there. I go back to Camp and she's still in bed all depressed.

I always enjoy him, he's a great character. Now I'm having a little trouble with the giant greenish thing, that I don't know the name of. I got extremely close to beating and of course I died right there. I hope now that I know the fighting pattern it uses I can have a little easier time beating it.

Giant green thing... Ironhead? With all the fish? I actually got through him without losing a single HP, and as an award I got the Alien Medal. Open the map on the ironhead box. See the little squid on the left? His name is Ikachan, a character from another game of Pixel's.

Note: Getting the alien badge does not affect the ending you get.

Yeah, I can't download things. There's some sor t of firewall that I'm working on breaking.

Is it installed on your computer? Does it stop you when downloading, or stop you when installing?

If downloading: Try a different browser.
If installing, it will work.
