GET AN INVERTER. Not a generator. The fumes from a generator INDOORS will kill you. Inverters get energy from your car.

Make sure your basement isn't flooding.

Stay out of rooms with large or thin trees nearby.
HAVE A PLAN if something happens.
Take food with you that is high in salt. No eggs or milk or things of the sort.
WATER BOTTLES.

*cough* >_> DC to AC inverters take energy from your car battery. Without the car being on, the battery won't last long. You need to turn the car on to make the battery live through the storm, and for a while until the catalytic converter warms up, you'll be breathing poisonous carbon monoxide. Generator > Inverter. Just put the generator in an area where it's open to the air.
