Philoslothical

Okay so if anyone has a philosophical question they would like to ask, post it here.

Re: Philoslothical

Lol I heard this before by fuzzysocks I believe.  Okay so his curse is that whenever he tells a lie, his nose will grow.  This is the only given you have to this.  If you say that he is telling the truth and it grows then that is okay.  There is no given rule stating that his nose cannot grow when he tells the truth.  If you say he is lying and his nose will not grow then it will not at first.  Since his nose did not grow immediately he has lied and it thus grows afterwards due to his lie.

Either way his nose grows.

Re: Philoslothical

Okay well life is the essence that preoccupies all biological creatures that inhabit the earth as well as possible other planets. tongue

If that was not the answer you had hoped for try specifying more.

Re: Philoslothical

Courage could be considered to be many different things.  It can be ignorance of something to fear thus having nothing to avoid.  Without knowledge of the dangers of lions, one would not be turned away by one, which could be considered courage.  It can also be considered a higher understanding of the subject as well.  If one knows the dangers, as well as how to avoid them, then one has no need to worry.  It can also be seen as a denial of the dangers which would be similar to both.  One understands the threat but feigns ignorance of it to be able to supposedly "conquer" it.

Sorry if this is not what you wanted.  The question was general and I am fallible.

*Bump trick*

OH I REMEMBER!
A ship gets built from wood.
Over time, the ship's parts rot and get replaced.
Eventually every single part gets replaced.

Is it still the same ship?

The pieces that were taken out were built to be a second ship for a museum. Now which is the original ship?

I would say then, with "that" being understood to be the fact that you are dead, that I am replying to a question stated by a person that is dead.  If this has to do with the question of what life is, then I would say that you are still the same essence just now lacking the biological aspect.

Bobithan wrote:

Heraclitus.  Following his theories of the universe, which dictates that everything is constantly changing, it is because the river, as well as you, are no longer the same as in former times.

Theseus.  This one I shall answer with the theories of Aristotle rather than Heraclitus.  There are four reasons to why something should or should not be.  The formal cause overpowers the material cause in this case which then means that its intended use and design are what matters thus it is the same.

The original is different than the same ship.  The original would be the one in the museum for it has the same aspects to it.

Re: Philoslothical

Hmm almost missed that why question, you shoulda put it in your last post.

It depends on what your belief on how is in order to obtain an answer.  If you believe God or some other supernatural omnipotent being is the creator, then it is sort of like a test of morals and will.  Those who pass go to heaven, those who fail go to hell.  If you believe in completely evolutionary terms, then it is by chance.  The conditions were just right for life to happen and thus it did.

How come no "What is the meaning of life?" "What is our purpose?" "If I think it, am I it?" lol

Re: Philoslothical

Haha that isn't a philosophical question, more paranoia.  Armageddon is the perceivable destruction of the world which numerous people throughout the times have predicted again and again yet were incorrect each time.  I will offer the date 13/13/13 as when it will happen.  I suppose I could offer what would happen with more interest since that would appeal more to philosophical thinking...

Re: Philoslothical

Those aren't really philosophical tongue

First, you think due to chemical reactions that happen throughout your head involving the transfer of energy with anions and cations, potassium being one of them.  These electrical charges spread throughout your brain across synapses to other synapses until they finally reach the certain location where an action is performed such as my thought of typing this then the reaction telling me to move my muscles to type.  Sorry for missing some information.

Second, well pretty much the same way as the first.  Different locations in the brain though.

Third, Things grow due to multiplication of cells.  The cells duplicate all of its contents as well as obtain chemicals in order to expand in size.  Once it reaches a certain size, it divides in half to form another cell that is nearly identical to the former.  Repeat this many times and you have a larger "thing".

This better not have been homework or something tongue
