I've taken up databending. It's the awesomesaucest thing evar. If you databend, what do you use, and how do you use it? If you're using a hex editor and wordpad (aka Advanced Wordpad Effect), then you can use this lil tool I made here:
fwin.co.cc/count.php

it counts the number of occurences of any string you want inside some data you insert. It's very good for knowing how many bytes to delete if you want to control your bend a little more.

Ok, so I wanted to make a 0x0 bmp image, a'ight? So I go scour google, a'ight? And this guy, he said to this other guy to google databending, a'ight? And so I do. And while I don't find a 0x0 bmp, I do find my new eeforum sig. See the cat's eyes? Those were caused when I bent my image and the top half of the image was twisted around and around the top, and so I overlayed the original, set the blend mode to hue, and made a few other layers and adjustments, and there's my sig. stAllio's way (blog.animalswithinanimals.com) was very helpful.

For my eeforum sig, I put an image through wordpad, let wordpad attempt to format it, then I saved it and opened it in GIMP. The top half of the cat was twisted around and around. Like a candy cane I put the bent one on top of the original and tada!

Yeah. Then I put the twisted one on top of the normal one, and set the twisted one's layer mode to Hue.

Good work. How do you prefer to bend your pictures? I like using a hex editor and wordpad (not notepad) to glitch mine, but I've been trying messing around in audio editors.

I just did what the vid said. I opened a copy of a bmp in wordpad, saved, and it was glitched!
First few tries I got a pic with a little X and that was all. is that what it means by 0x0 bmp?

And a 0x0 bmp is a bmp that has 0 height and 0 width. A BMP with an X would be a BMP that has been corrupted beyond repair. Wordpad replaces some bytes with others, and one of those bytes it replaces was in your header and it got messed up.

Oh. I see.
So, I registered http://www.databending.co.cc/ and I have to wait 48 hours before It takes place on thier servers. + another 24 hours to get it registered with 000webhost.
Basically I'm gonna make an image board where you can post your bent pics.
