Username based profile

Something I made on a forum I'm building in FluxBB.

Normally, the profile url would be like:

/profile.php?id=13

However, with this you could also use:

/profile.php?name=Ratburntro44

I could post how to do this, but I'm lazy and I think Different can figure it out.

Yes, I could do it. I might even make an extension for it. Y'know, the ones that install themselves, with no need to dig around placing random bits of code in the php files.

Why do you act like you are so special? FluxBB can do that, too. Except for with people that are too lazy to do less work.

It only requires a couple of lines of code anyways.

Edit: Another suggestion (that i also used there) wopuld be to add URL rewriting so you can just use

http://pun.fwin.co.cc/Ratburntro44

To get to it.

I don't think I'm special I just think that punbb's self-installing extensions are simpler to use and spread. If you mess something up when installing one of fluxbb's extensions you can trash the forum. With PunBB you just disable the extension and delete it. Safer and faster.

They do actually have (multiple) ways of auto installing and uninstalling fluxbb mods. Just they are mods. So you only need to actually install one.

Simple right? I mean if you are a pro coder, and you have time, you can use PHP to make a forum from scratch.

Or if you use your time efficiently you can just use an existing forum software that works perfectly fine for all of your purposes.

Yes, it certainly is.

They are both way faster than phpBB (if you add the average loading times of PunBB and FluxBB, I believe it is still around half of phpBB).

I tried once, you can see my attempt if you dig up my old smilies/bricks topic on eeforum that I made in paint while I was fixing my laptop. It didn't work out too good. Maybe a 32x32?
