Parallel Timelines

Let's say that every time you roll a die, a different timeline is created for every number it could land on.

That would mean that in one timeline, every single die that has ever been created has only ever rolled a 3.

Re: Parallel Timelines

That makes me wonder how that would affect the culture there. And of course, there would also be plenty of timelines where only 1 non-3 roll has existed, and other timelines where only a specific person can consistently make non-3 rolls, and others where only one gender or race or group of people are able to make non-3 rolls, and others where each race rolls the same number, and people of mixed nationality produce the rolls that have probability based on how much of each nationality makes up their heritage.

As a horrible side-effect, monopoly wouldn't exist in any of these timelines, at least not in the form we know it as.

Re: Parallel Timelines

Science might not be very advanced, considering that one of their universal laws would be that dice always roll 3.

It's hard to imagine whether in a timeline where only one person could roll non-3s that person would be burned at the stake or worshipped.

Re: Parallel Timelines

I'm also imagining a timeline in which every single die rolls a 3 except for a single die and then people start worshipping that.

Re: Parallel Timelines

I imagine it would end up as being some sort of amazing mystery and that the creators of dice would be famous for discovering this amazing law that applies to absolutely no other object in the universe. Or not. Depends on when dice were invented. It could be that the creators would be burned at the stake for introducing such witchcraft into the world.

Re: Parallel Timelines

How would math work if this was a thing? Like, would people just completely ignore part of probability/statistics? Or it could become a Millenium Prize Problem or something?

Depends on if it's limited to just dice. If so, it would probably become a Millennium Prize Problem or something like you said.

Yet more people would have successful relationships.

Re: Parallel Timelines

So we'll rolll this dice, and if it lands on an odd number, I win.

So dice-related tiebreakers for competitions are screwed.

Re: Parallel Timelines

What if it wasn't always like this. What if one day everyone woke up and dice had stopped working.
