Which probably means the problem is less about the amazingness of the games and more about the fact that recent nintendo games look like they're all directed fully at filthy casuals. The GC had some nice games. After the Wii it got gimmicky and causal.
tl;dr: Nintendo games are identical from other games. Nintendo gets gimmicky a lot. Nintendo uses weak hardware compared to opposition, and it shows.
And there's the whole thing of not being able to do the most basic stuff like watch DVDs, Blu-Ray, CDs, or anything on it, because we already have a thousand devices to do that already and it's not like consolidating them into one device like literally every other disc-based console does would save space or raise the value of the console or make users happy or something.

So I got a PS4. But, it seems all my boys (little child friends) want me to buy a WII U, since mario lives there...........

But I don't know if it's worth it. How good are the mario games? How could are the games genreally?

Mario games are boring, it's ever the same thing, jump and avoid obstacles, i like mostly the horror games with any story. Resident evil, farcry 3, silent hill, etc.

The first half, at least. Most mario games are minor variations of the very first game. There are exceptions, but for the most part Mario now represents Nintendo's fall from glory. They keep remaking and relabeling almost identical games because people keep buying them. The people who buy those games don't want to take the tiny amount of time to learn new anything with their games.

The games are very suitable for children. I'd go as far as saying that Wii U games are almost only suitable to children. There are a few good games on the vWii/Wii U virtual consoles, but most everything else is very shallow game play.

Don't buy a mario clone unless the Wii U you're getting comes with one. Ours (my family's) did, and collectively we have played it fewer than 5 times. Even for the members who haven't played mario before, it got boring fast

Repetitive and redundant? Definitely. No arguments there.

Childish? Sure, I'm a child and I at least enjoy playing them. Though, "childish" isn't bad, as I think the Gamecube is a great console to play games on.

Boring? They keep me entertained for a while. I went as far as to get all stars on my two New Super Mario Bros. games.

Not worth buying a Mario clone? I haven't bought one, as one is rented, and the other came with a Wii. Though, if you like classic Mario platforming, you might like it.
