EDIT: Nevermind, Opera 24 has mouse gestures, and I can probably find or make a chrome extension (which can then be installed on opera) that replaces panels. FORGET YOU CHROME.

why on earth would chrome be your first choice after having to give up opera

Because we use it at school (unless I'm able to log into my school account, because I have a portable copy of Opera stashed in my folder) and because it stalks what I do online.

For me right now, it's more like
1. Opera 12.16/7
2. Opera
3. Maxthon/a lot of stuff
4. Chrome
5. Firefox, but only if I'm running on a really modern computer or Linux.
6. The Browser That Will Not Be Named 1-5
7. Safari
8. AOL
9. Firefox if I'm running on a slow computer and not Linux.
10. The Browser That Will Not Be Named 6+

The reason FF is so low is because it's slow. It's been a long time since I've had a session that didn't end in extreme lag, JavaScript/XML errors, and pkill/windows task manager. Except on Mac. I rarely have problems with FF on Mac. And FF errors on my dad's win7 laptop are less frequent, but still common. I guess I've never had a problem with it on Linux, but I can count the number of times and the amount of time I've spent doing that on one hand. I haven't had a good experience with FF on Windows since that huge version number jump.

Endless customizability? Gone.
Themes that are more than just a wallpaper for your browser? Gone.
Everything that made opera special? That's definitely gone.

oh god it is still gone. plsgo new opera. coolio it is chrominium (the thing chrome, torch, and more run on) but modified it to make it look like opera
