So I've been playing around in blender again (for like the 5th time in 10 years) but this time I've actually managed to do stuff.

For comparison, this is the most impressive thing I've done in blender before now:

It's not great. I think it's a blimp fish or something. I'm not entirely sure.

This was the first thing I made after learning how to animate things. I was messing around making terrain when this guy sitting next to me teaches me how to animate crap, so I made a UFO and made this horrible animation.

Later that day, I made more terrain, a more complex shipthing, and played around with switching cameras and camera tracking. I need to make the sidethings less reflective though. Those things are like mirrors right now.

Now I'm working on stuff with bones and stuff. I'll probably post more stuff later.

BTW, that texture on the bimp fish is unintentional. I didn't add any textures to it, it's just glitching out. That's how bad I was at blending.

My Computer Software Engineering class got new computers that are unnecessarily powerful. They have Intel Xeon quad-core processors with hyperthreading, 8GB of RAM, and a nice nVidia graphics card whose name I can't remember. I tried out rendering with the graphics card, but I ended up settling on using the CPU to render since it was faster. The single-core GPU took 9 seconds to render a single frame, but the psuedo-octo-core CPU managed it in 6. It chewed through this simple 165-frame animation in 16 minutes:

By comparison, the same thing would have taken over 40 minutes on the computers yesterday.

I once tried blender. I tried to make a human figure but I was lways too lazy to actually complete it. And now I'm bored of blender and don't care about it at all.

That happened to me the first 4 times. The first 3 times I could only manage to create a monkey head.

Since you can't see the different colors reflecting off the dog's back, I made a new version with fewer colors and the colors more spaced out, which made it look more disco-y. It took 2 hours to render on my home computer. ;_;
I'll upload and link later.

I think I'll play around a bit more with bones and animation, and then I'm going to try out motion tracking like this: http://vimeo.com/70762650
That statue is actually a 3D model in blender, and it's not limited to a still object.

But before that I'm going to work on doing it with stills, which is called Camera Tracking, I think.

Was going through old pics from 08 when I saw this pic of 2 of my sisters and a chicken and thought that a hand in the background would really enhance it. So I grabbed a model of a hand, added some lighting, a plane to catch the shadows, and was very unhappy with the lighting results. I've been messing with the lighting for a while now and can't get it to look the same as the rest of the picture so here.

the girl on the right looks a bit fat does she look ok now

Actually they're both chubby now, but at least the one on the right doesn't look like a balloon like she does in that picture, she just looks overweight. They both are shorter than me (I'm 5'9") and weigh at least 200 pounds.
