The Hunger Games

In the ruins of North America, lies the all-powerful nation of Panem. In Panem is the Capitol, they are the most feared people in all twelve districts. You are one of the unlucky ones; you have been chosen to participate in the ruthless Hunger Games. The Games are the reason why the Capitol is hated. The Games are where one boy and girl from every district competes to the death. In all there are twelve districts, 1-12, only one boy and girl from each district within the ages of 12-18 compete in the Hunger Games. Twenty-four children go into the Arena, and only one comes out alive.
Will you survive?

.:Districts:.

District 1- Nearly all of the Capitol's luxury items are made in District One. The people of this district are rarely hungry, and they train their children to compete in the Hunger Games.

District 2- District Two holds the nation's stone quarries. It also unofficially trains Peacekeepers. This district's citizens train their children for the Hunger Games.

District 3- Factories, manufacturing, technology; that's all District Three. This district is large and dotted with the high-tech factories; the only issue is that pollution can sometimes be rather bad.

District 4- The citizens of District Four are all serious fishers; give them a fishing pole and they'll come back with a truckload of fish. Most of this food is shipped to the Capitol; but they have more than enough left for themselves.

District 5- Animals are found abundantly in District Five; the residents specialize in breeding and selling them. They are born with a deep understanding of wildlife.

District 6- District Six are the scientists of the country; discovering new remedies, uncovering explanations for the country's problems; it's all them.

District 7- If you happened to come across District Seven, you would come across construction to the highest extent. These citizens are good with a hammer and nails.

District 8- Cotton is grown in District Eight, and sheep are raised. Why? Because these people are weavers, and specialize in producing clothing for the Capitol.

District 9- District Nine are hunters, but they are only permitted to hunt strictly within their district limits. Anywhere else is prohibited.

District 10- District Ten citizens love mathematics, and is the only district besides the Capitol that interacts with foreign countries, through trade and negotiation. Their district lies on what was once called the Mississippi River, and boats carrying goods traverse it.

District 11- District Eleven is entirely agricultural, dotted with orchards, fields, and the like. Most of the food grown is given to the Capitol.

District 12- The last and final district, Twelve, are coal miners. Their district is normally the hungriest, but they get by. The coal they mine is mostly given to the Capitol as directed.

*i edited a few districts from what they are in the books.

.:RULES:.

1) Fail Forum rules apply, as always.
2) No fighting outside of RP.
3) No inappropriateness.
4) No killing/injuring another person's character.
5) If you have any questions, PM me.
6) I will Pick Game Makers
7) We're going in exact order according to the book for events. So first is the Reaping (as always), then the Opening Ceremony, Training Scores, and Interviews. After that, we'll start the Arena.
8) When talking outside of RP, use parenthesis. ()
9) We're using the Three Strikes rule here, but this one is mainly for fighting and/or causing problems. The first two will be warnings, but if you hit three, you're out of the RPG.
10) You can have a crush, or do a Katniss-Peeta thing like in the book. Just keep the romantic stuff toned down so the rest of us don't have to suffer, though.

Sounds fun. I'll sign up tomorrow. You might need to wait a while to get 24 people though ;P

Tip: If somebody goes dormant from the game for 5 days, that means they died of hunger because they just sat there and did nothing.

I lol'd at how you struggled with the number seven. Everybody has trouble with that. Even me.
Awesome you like the hinge games too. It's my favorite book.

Bio: Herrit is always finding his way into trouble. Some call him insane. He probably gets detention at least 3 times a week. One time he even brought a knife to school and stabbed his teacher in the arm. He never got into too much trouble though because of his father being the mayor. He is a very spoiled kid because of that.

Actually, the game makers are the people who signed up, their just both.

Edit: wolf, the token can't be useful in any way, different, you can't have a weapon as a district token, and wolf exile took the district three boy, will add people to the list tomorrow. night.

Bio: Uses bits of metal ore he finds in the mine with some coal he's allowed to keep and can make all sorts of things. With his specialty hammer he can start a forge just about anywhere. The handle contains a few bars of metal and a collapsed bellows and the rest of the space containing ore. Why be limited by what bars he has? His apron contains bags of coal. He has worked in the mines for 5 years now.

He tries to do what he can to stay in the woods, but the woods don't supply everything. Also skilled with a bow and arrow.

(Hi! I'm Artemis, Silverheart's sister. I have experience in other HG RPGs on another forum, where I've both won a Games and been a GM. So, when Silverheart asked me to join, I couldn't resist.)

District Token: A bracelet made out of gears. Hanging from one of the gears is a small key. If she inserts the key into one of the gears, they start turning.
Short Bio: All her life, Nicolletta has lived in poverty as an orphan in District 3. During the day, she scavenges items from trash cans and sleeps. Since she was 8, she's worked the 12-hour night shift in a small factory making weapons. While working there, she picked up a few tricks. Mainly, how to build her own and how to modify them. In the darkness with nobody watching her, she's also has some time to practice with the weapons. And Nicolletta plans to use this practice in the arena.

Did I mention it was magic? It goes right through anything living, so it's kinda hard to hurt someone with it. Directly. It was intended to be so that you couldn't hit yourself instead of metal. You can still hit anything non-living with it though. The handle isn't magic, but what are you gonna do? Poke someone? Yeah, dangerous weapon there.

Hm... but it's still useful, isn't it? What about.... a fireglove. Like teh blacksmiths use so they don't burn their hands. Hey, are we going to be set loose in a forest? Because I know a lot about survival situations (not through TV, through doing it myself)

( ()s, and no, no hammer of any kind, and no gloves. basically, an amulet, necklace, bracelet, pin, coin, other useless things.

after the pre arena stuff, you will be set loose in an arena of the game maker's choosing. it can be anything from forests to mountains, etc.)

(you don't go into the mines until you are 18 and no longer eligible for the games. you can start RPing the reapings though.)

I wake up and look around. the house still seemed so empty. sashea, my sister, was chosen for the games last year, and ever since, my family only makes the necessary noise. today is the day of the reaping, when 1 boy and 1 girl from each district is chosen to compete in the hunger games. I put on my clothes and head outside. on any other day, i would be heading to school, but on the day of the reaping all school and work is cancelled. i wander over to the grain fields, a mile from my house and sit among the grain just staring to become edible. this is where i work in the fall, when we harvest the food for the capitol. i sit there, thinking, until the sun tells me it's 12:30. i wander back to my house and eat a small meal of tesserae grain and an apple. i go upstairs and nod to my parents, who are now awake. i take a shower and put on a dress, the only fancy thing i have. i do my hair in a long ponytail and head for the town square, an hour walk from my house.

When i arrive, i see the girl section almost full, and wiggle my way in. when the clock strikes 2, the mayor comes up and reads the same story they do every year about how the hunger games came to be. next, he introduces the last winner, talya emberheart, who has been the winner for 20 years. finally, he introduces the capitol representative.
