Having the needle stuck in your arm causes some small pain, but the act of drawing blood doesn't feel like anything at all. I had my blood drawn enough times before surgery (and more times before the time surgery was rescheduled) to know. Plus who would donate to a concept like that? Nobody feels strongly enough about video games these days to donate large amounts of money to this, do they? If that were the purpose, this would be better off as a joke article on some obscure satire site that gets ripped off of by crappy content aggregation sites all over the internet.
