The names are treble clef, bass clef, and alto clef. These are also known as G clef, F clef, and C clef, respectively.

No, they aren't. 'G clef' in no way implies 'treble clef'. The same goes for the rest of those.

wat r u guise talking about. I'm in 9th grade and I ain't ever heard of all them letter clefs. Baritones, some kinda saxophone and timpani play in the bass clef, all other saxes, brass, woodwind, flute, percussion, all play treble.

They are not two names of the same thing. It has to be in a specific position to be a treble clef, but no matter what position it is in it is a G clef.

Oh, now i get your thinking. If a G clef were placed anywhere else, though, it's not widely used like a treble. Same goes for F and C.

Yeah. They use the same positions mostly because otherwise it would be stupid and hard to remember.

Yes, but people get accustomed to one and don't normally look at the clef on every line. They just assume it. So it would be confusing to switch clefs.

Well, yes and no. Pianists would have to look everytime. (One of the clefs can be switched to have both in treble or bass) Other than that, your thinking is correct.

technically, yes. It's easy to remember things in relation to G, or just transpose the music down/up.
