I'm making a Roguelike game in Lua for the PSP

The cool thing here is that I'm making this game without once using a PC. I learned the language, downloaded and installed the interpreter, coded, tested, and made the graphics (I actually made the graphics editor I used in Lua the same way), ALL from my PSP. After I've got the story in and the game is finished, I will package the game and distribute it from my PSP. And I've got the basic thing up and running, but now I need a story. Make it as crazy or as sane as you guys can come up with. It could be medieval like most roguelikes, or we could have it far in the future, or in the present, whatever. Here's the things I have implemented right now:
- Movement
- Customizable preset maps
- Events
- Enemies
- Inventory
- Cash/Gold/Credits/Monetary Unit of Fun

What will be implemented:
- Fighting (after the theme is decided)
- Ability to customize character with race, class/job (after the theme is decided)
- Random stats (after character customization is done)
- FOV (maybe)
- Shops (after theme is decided)
- More

Basically you can walk, talk, and buy. I need you guys for the rest.

Cool. I wanna learn Lua, but haven't found the time just yet...

(Um... I'm assuming you can die in a game with fighting?)
I'd go medieval. Easiest place to have weapons.

You wake up in the middle of a grassy plain. You feel a sharp pain in your head and have no idea who or where you are. You see a town in the distance. It seems familiar, but also gives you a bad feeling. Should you go? (Y OR N)

(N)
That bad feeling overrides the familiarity. You take off in the opposite direction with absolutely nothing, except... What's that in your pocket? You take it out. A GOLD COIN! Woohoo. You continue onward. At the edge of the gate to the road, you see a huge lump. Getting closer, you find a clear crystal nearby. (Checkpoint) It turns out the lump is a... LEVEL 5 DRAGON! You are not fighting that thing. Turn around. (You go back to town.)

You go into town. Something doesn't feel right here, but it's the only place around. You decide to go into one of the shops, as you're feeling kind of hungry. The merchant asks you for what you'd like. You realize you don't have any... Wait! What's that in your pocket? A GOLD COIN! Woohoo. The shop only accepts bronze coins, though, so you can't buy anything just yet. You go to the bank for some bronze coins. 1 gold coin=5 silver=15 bronze. 1 silver=3 bronze. You exchange for 15 bronze coins. As you walk out, you see a man staring at you. You walk over.


BLAH BLAH BLAH... This man helps you choose your class, becomes a lifelong friend... You meet your teacher... etc.

K, it's a lil heavy on the story.

What kind of medieval weapons should I be making? I know, swords, knives, shields, armor, maces, all that stuff, but what specifically? Like names/stats?

Clarificatication:
What are some specific weapons I could make and their stats? (eg Sword of Aweomesauce that is 10/10 on a scale of awesomeness/power.

Good ideas, though. What's the difference between strength and power, what does intellect affect, in what situations could one be lucky, and how do all these stats affect each other?
For example, usually intellect is used for magic strength, and the higher the int, the higher your mana, but your HP and strength drop a lot. Or in the case of strength, usually HP goes up, INT goes down, etc. How should all these stats work in this game?

I like the bosses you came up with, too. I'll have to put one of every 10 or so floors down or something.

Ugh. I typed in an entire response, but it turns out I wasn't logged in and lost it all.
Summary:
Names depend on whether it's a fail rogue-like, or a normal rogue-olike.
Power is how powerful you can be attacking, strength is how long you can keep that up. Have 75 power, 25 strength, and a power level 40 attack? You lose 40 power, but on the next turn, you regain 25 power. Power's more of a bar like HP and Mana. Maybe a better word for strength is ENDurance.
Strength reduces speed.
Intellect reduces strength, power, and dexterity, but increases luck.
Speed decides who goes first, but luck can override that. It can also be used for random occurences like money.
I'll add a new stat: CHArisma. You can haggle down the prices on items a little.

Bro. If you're on Opera you can just hit the back button. The page will come up just like it was. If you're against the use of the back button you can hold the right mouse button and move your mouse to the left then release it.
Also, endurance sounds hard to implement correctly and the first hit is the first hit. If you decide to attack the monster, you go first because you attacked him before he attacked you. If you are walking along and then this monster comes along and follows you, catches up, then attacks you while you keep walking doing nothing for some reason, the monster would hit first.

...I knew how to use the back button and mouse gestures, I just had no idea that the input form would still be intact.

And oh. Then just chop off speed and power, forget the entire idea of power vs. strength and who-goes-first.

Speed is still a good idea. It's turn based, but every so many turns you could move twice if you're fast. The faster you are, the more frequently you can move without the monsters moving. If you're twice as fast as a monster, then you would be able to make 2 moves for every one of his.

@input I've opened opera on school computers that I haven't used for months and the input would still be there.
